Help fight summer loss!
Summer is a great time for kids to play outside. However, when they come back to school after the long summer break, students who have not practiced their skills (especially in math and language arts) seem to have lost some of the knowledge that they had before taking time off. It is important for kids to have time to be kids. For the times your children say they are bored, here are some fun educational websites they can visit to play some games and keep up their skills at the same time! (Keep in mind, the Mayo Clinic recommends that children spend no more than 1-2 hours a day in front of a computer or TV. Check out this article.) Simply click on the grade level they were in last year to find some resources your children should be able to use to practice on their own. If those activities are too hard or too easy, try another grade level until you find a good fit. It is recommended that you sit with your children when they first try a website to make sure they know how to interact with it and that it is at the correct level. Want to share a great educational website you found? Go to our blog page and share it as a comment so we can all try it out!
